Dear Mr Ismail

Several of you have approached me over the last week with concerns about the care of pregnant women should they be infected with Ebola.

We have worked closely with the National Incident Co-ordination Centre at Public Health England to produce information for healthcare professionals on Ebola and pregnancy.  This can be found here. It includes links to clinical guidance and an algorithm on the care of individuals with Ebola.

Information about infection prevention and control can be found here.

Please refer to Public Health England’s (PHE) website for up-to-date information.

The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the US has produced information for breastfeeding women who have Ebola.

I am making this a priority work stream for us. We will continue to work closely with PHE by monitoring the situation in affected countries and the UK. Updates and further advice will be provided when appropriate.

In the meantime, do contact me via Gerald Chan on gchan@rcog.org.uk if you have any questions or information to share.

Yours sincerely,

Dr David Richmond
RCOG President
